My name is Kahlil Haywood and this is my column "Damn, He Got A Point".

This column will reflect my views on relationships, love and understanding. The title of my column was really inspired by a feeling I want you (the reader) to have once you finish reading. I do not expect you to always agree, and I don’t think I would always be right. Above all things I only want you to leave my page saying to yourself “damn… he got a point.” If you get that feeling, I’ve done my job.

"Knock Knock"

March 27th, 2012

I’m going a different route today. I really like to think that every time I write I give you some part of me. I try to be as transparent as possible and some subjects allow for that more than others. So that brings us here. This is a piece I’ve been inspired to write for a while but was always looking for the right words; I hope I found them. It’s no secret that we are all flawed, and that’s certainly not to be used as a crutch for anything but it is a reality. I figured what better day than today for me to speak about one of my own flaws. This happens to be a common flaw that I would say plagues most men. I’m speaking about opening up to a woman. Communication seems to be a gender wide Achilles heel for us at some point or another. We guys have problems speaking up for a myriad of reasons.

"The HomeWrecker"

February 16th, 2012

Well the trusty folks at wiktionary.com defines a homewrecker as follows- A person (male or female) who engages in romantic relations with a person who is married or engaged to be married with the intention of breaking up the engagement or marriage. We all know that this definition doesn’t only pertain to married couples but more simply monogamous couples in general. I guess I usually have things to say when I have a bone to pick; today is no different.

"Bad Guys Vs. Good Guys""

January 31st, 2012

The title to the entry this week is kind of like my ode to the title of the first Outkast album (southernplayalisticadillacmuzik) it was great. The album was gritty and witty....

"Selective Memory""

January 4th, 2012

I’ll be very honest from the start; this post may be a bit biased. For a long time I have felt a way. So today I speak for all good men on this topic of what I’m deeming selective memory. Selective memory is simply what I would consider forgetting all the good someone may have done for you in a moment consumed with dissatisfaction.

"Rebels With A Cause""

December 12th, 2011

Ladies I’m here to help you be careful once again. What now?! Is the question you must be asking and with good reason. After all you ladies are always taught to be careful. You’re told to be careful walking outside late nights and early moments.

"G's And Degrees"

December 6th, 2011

I think it’s time to take a stand. If you didn’t know then you’re about to find out. Ambition is sexy. Intellect is sexy. And it’s time that we all strive to be with people who will push us to be better. I always have a story, and today’s piece is no different. You ready? Well here it goes. 2007 was the summer before my sophomore year of college. At the time I was really getting over a break up. There was one day where my mother was just speaking to me (she likes to randomly have these talks and they spring up seemingly out of thin air) and she was talking about choosing someone to be with. At the time I was 18 and wasn’t really thinking too much in those terms.

"Are You In..... Loyal?""

November 21st, 2011

The other night I watched one of my sort of favorite movies. I thought the concept was great, and the fact that it’s a comedy lightens the issue. The movie is “I think I Love My Wife.” It stars Chris Rock and Kerry Washington amongst a few others. In a nutshell the movie chronicles Chris Rock’s character’s marriage which we meet in its current downturn. Kerry Washington plays the pivotal and proverbial tempting home wrecker.

"Putting The Pu**y On A Pedestal"

November 14th, 2011

If you know me (many of you do not) you know that I love comedies. One of the most genius comedies I ever watched was “The 40 Year Old Virgin.” Without getting into it too much it simply served as a springboard for many actors in that movie. A particular recurring joke in the film is this issue of putting the pu**y on a pedestal.

"Taboo"

October 15th, 2011

Let’s have a discussion today y’all. Boy do I have a discussion piece for you all. There’s no doubt that we’re all grown here so for the ensuing paragraphs bear with me in the manner in which I elaborate. Now today I want to speak on what I would consider a hot button and taboo topic.

"Wifey"

October 8th, 2011

I know when I write that I write to intelligent individuals. And knowing this I know you took a wild stab in the dark already as to what this post is about. A very huge issue I have always heard with women can revolve around men and commitment. Truth be told I’ll go out on a limb to say that damn near every woman thinks they’re “wifey” material. What does wifey mean to the person snoozing under a bolder? Wifey is simply a term used for a woman that a guy decides to be more serious with; it isn’t always taken as being a literal wife. Nevertheless men look for some key qualities that would differentiate the wifey type from the rest.

"Keeping The P**** Happy"

September 9th, 2011

Well, now that I have your attention you can expect an explanation for such a statement. Whatever intrigue or emotion I just sparked was absolutely calculated and done for a purpose. Yes ladies and gentlemen there is a method to my madness. I write today to bring light to a philosophy I believe many or most men have. At one point or another my philosophy has played a part in every man’s life except maybe… a monk or a priest.

"Watch Out For The Big Girls..."

August 20th, 2011

So from the frying pan we go into the fire. If you’ve spent any time in parties or listen to a lot of music I’m sure you can finish the phrase I have mentioned in my title. Just in case you’re still puzzled, the phrase goes – Watch out for the big girls! It comes on in a party, you get out the way of the big girls, and they go ahead and do their thing. It’s a fun song that I always happen to enjoy when it comes on simply because people hype it up. Well today, my inaugural post I say we cannot forget the “big girls.” Society still isn’t hot on the idea of “full figured women” but truth is they’re human and they deserve some light....
